On a summy Sunday afternoon we had nine cars head out for a our up to camp quality in Lanark. This is an annual event for our car club, and part of the support we give to them every year. We all arrived at the camp, but not without issues. We had one car breakdown, but a friend of the driver helphed out and then offered his car for the kids tours.

I don't know who enjoyed the tours more, the kids riding or the drivers. There was a rumble seat and the was a novel experience for any. of course there were a couple of convertibles.

The kids seemed really drwn to the colourful cars as well. One boasted he had a drive in all of them. So I think it was a successful trip.

After the kids seemed to be finished wanting drives, we took the back roads thro...

The weather did us a favour and didn't boil us for our tour on July 7th.  I guess all our prayers were answered.  We met in Carleton Place for the tour.  One member had an issue with his Model A and went home and exchanged it for an MG, OMG!  But it is a beauty and fit right in.  The Model A's were running a little late, but when they arrived we left with 6 Model A's and 6 Antique Cars so it was quite a mix.

Our first stop was  the Ashton General Store.  The General Store was open in Ashton for 150 years and closed in 2016.  Over the years it was very much a community meeting place.  Now it has reopened as “The General Store Marketplace” and specializes ...

2018 Rideau Lakes Region ACCCC Flea Market and Car Show in

Lombardy, Ontario

Our 46th Annual Flea Market was held on May 26th and 27th with the car show on Sunday May 27th.  We had beautiful dry weather in Lombardy despite the fact there was rain around us and the forecast was poor. I don't think we had as many vendors or cars out as usual because of the forecast.  Those that came benefited from the great weather.

As usual we had lots of door prizes on Sunday for the Car Show Participants and many went home with a trophy, door prize, or both!  We had 50/50 draws on Saturday and Sunday.  There was a vendors draw for those vending.  And of course we had a raffle draw.  The raffle was for a mounted tool system with a worktable as 1st prize, and tools for 2nd and 3rd prize.  These prizes were supported by Canadian Tire in Smiths Falls and Henry Schur of Smiths Falls.  The profits from the raffle are used to support Camp Quality—a camp for children with Cancer.  We are proud to be a supporter of Camp Quality.

And of course we can't forget the food.  We have a pot luck on Friday evening, and a roast beef dinner on Saturday evening.  Everyone is welcome to attend both of these meals.  And during the day the Lombardy Agricultural Society Ladies had a canteen to provide breakfast and lunch.  They also had a Craft Sale that they are hoping to improve on next year.  But there were several booths in operation including one with fantastic baked goods for sale.  So you don't have to pack much food to enjoy our event.

All in, we were happy with the weekend.  It's a lot of work for a small club.  So I want to thank those members who worked so hard all weekend!  And also a  big thank you to our sponsors; and the people who vended, showed their cars, and attended the flea market and car show.

Thank you on behalf of Rideau Lakes Region ACCCC and myself—Keitha Black

What an evening we had at our Christmas Party. We had great weather and a great turnout.  It's always an opportunity to chat with people you might have missed at other events.  Everyone mixed and sipped wine during the social hour.  Then on with the dinner.

As usual, Keith and the team at the Roosteraunt did a excellent job on the meal.  We started with a Christmas decorated salad that tasted as good as it looked.  The prime rib meal was superb and everyone got their meal as they liked it.  Then desert was a selection of Cheesecakes that were to die for!  (Of course I am partial to Cheesecake.)

After dinner we presented the Camp Quality donations to Glen and Pam Mooney.  They were our guests for the eve...

We recently received an email on our feedback site from a lady in Oregon.  It seems that her son Alex was doing a school project and decided on Automobile History.  In the course of their research they happened upon the Rideau Lakes Website.  He checked out our car pictures and really enjoyed them.

We are thrilled to do what we can to support and foster the interest in the Antique Automobile Hobby.  So we are very appreciative of the message we received!

My name is Erica J**, I am from Portland, Oregon. My son Alex is really into cars and trucks. One of his teachers is starting the school year by having the students do a fun project to get them back in the school mindset. I thought this was such a cool ide...

The weatherman forecast was for a hot humid & record breaking day. this did not discourage a group of Canada's Capitol A's and Rideau Lakers from participating in the tour planned by Mel & Keitha Black and Joanne & Harry Macdonald.

Some gathered at the Tim Horton's in Richmond, and after Keitha gave us our written instructions & explained there would be no corner cars, we fired up the engines, rolled down the windows, and headed to Carleton Place. There we were to meet up with the rest of the group.

After a short "meet and greet" it was just a short run to the first stop,  a local Flea Market.  While wandering around the market some found items they just had to have.  In fact one lady bough...

What a great day for a drive. Perfect weather!

We grouped up with 8 cars led by Earl Moore and Doris Porteous for the drive to Lanark.  We had another car join us at the camp for a total of 9 antique cars.

There was also a Mustang, two Slingshot motorcycles and a police boat.  So the Camp Quality children and councillors had lots of options for rides.  They are able to go in as many vehicles as they want as often as they want.  What a great opportunity for everyone.

We need to thank Camp Quality for giving us this opportunity and for all the hard work they do for these children.  While the drivers were busy giving rides the rest of us sat in the shade and talked to the Camp Quality group, the group providi...

The folks and friends of Rideau Lakes enjoyed

a wonderful day and evening on Saturday, July 8.

Following the wild rains of Friday night, nineteen eager members of Rideau Lakes Car club and nine cars gathered at Nancy and Earl Weir's for a 10:30 start.  Chris Bryant with his friend Margaret led us on a delightful tour of the old villages of Rideau Lakes. Villages like Toledo, Addison, Athens, Phillipsville and Delta.  Villages where you saw the homes and stores where once farming was king.  Must admit some of these villages may not have been on the original tour but there were a delight none the less.

We stopped for ice cream at the Forfar Cheese Factory in Plum Hollow.  Now ice cream was just one option along wi...

The Rideau Lakes members who toured with the Kawartha Lakes Region did all that and more when we toured the byways of the Kawartha and Haliburton lakes north of Lindsay.

Friday am June 9, 6 cars met at County Fair Mall ready to go and anticipating the ride. We headed to Perth on Hwy 7, after stopping for lunch in Norwood and a leg stretch we moved on to our Motel in Lindsay around 3 pm.

Bud and Sharon Murray lead us on to Tracey and Tom Murphy's where the Kawartha members hosted a delicious beef dinner with salads and dessert. No one left hungry.

Saturday morning drivers meeting at 9 am,  leaving at 9:30, we had a total of 22 cars. Beautiful drive, stopping at a Maple Sugar Shack for a catered lunch of pulled pork...

It was a cool rainy morning but we still showed up at A&B Ford in Smiths Falls for our annual Touring Inspection! We inspected 13 vehicles in the next couple of hours. And Earl has a few more to see so we won't have an Unlucky Number of inspections done. After all the cars were checked out 10 cars loaded up for a short drive led by Terry and Sharlene Irish. The weather decided to co-operate and stop raining. It was nice to see the trees leafing out and the scenery starting to turn that bright leaf green. It turned out to be an international tour. We went through Toledo (Spain), Athens (Greece), and then to Jasper (Canada). The trip took longer than planned when our leader had to stop for the gas he forgot to get earlier! When we got bac...
